One of the smartest things kids can do over the summer is READ! When you sign up for FREE Library programs, kids can win some great stuff! One of the smartest things you can do is model reading! Kids that see parents reading are 100% more likely to read, at least in our house! There is plenty of cool stuff for parents when you enter yourself in the Adult Summer reading challenge!
2. The World's Largest Swimming Lesson, June 23rd

Get the word out about the World's biggest swim lesson. No matter if your kiddos are babies or teens, every age group is welcome. No matter if your kids just dipping a toe in the pool or already tadpoles; every ability is welcome and encouraged to come out for this annual favorite. Get the kid's abilities tested, too!

For those of you on your first summer in the Vegas Area, we rarely go out during the day. We go in the morning. We go after dusk. We do everything we can to stay in the air conditioning. What do you do with your kids all day? We do not recommend hitting the parks. The slides have been known to cause 2nd-degree burns! 9. Take a train ride
🚂 Story Time on the Train 🚂 StoryTime on the train on the Nevada Southern Railway. The kids enjoy a coloring page, craft and an age-appropriate story read by one of our docents. |
Everyone rides the train from the depot to Railroad Pass and returns while enjoying the activities along with their parents and family. StoryTime is on each of the regular departures for the day.
*Currently Story Time Trains run at all times: 10:00am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm and 4:00pm.
10. Head to the Wetlands... and sneak in the education!

Did you know there is a Wetlands in the middle of our desert community? It is home to many critters and the staff loves to share it all with families like you! Last week at Storytime with a Librarian, we learned about SCAT. Yes, poo. The kids LOVED IT! We learned about animal tracks and played a quick game of matching the animal to the print. This is my secret weapon to sneak education into my family fun!
11. Work Out
Yoga for YoungstersKids 3-5 are welcome at the Henderson Library for a FREE yoga class and storytime! | Teens and adults are welcome EVERY THURSDAY all summer for a Free Class! |
Keeping moving is key to a happy summer! Older Kids can enjoy Tournament Tuesdays! This month is a Wiffleball Tournement, a free friendly competition, but competition nonetheless. Bring friends or they will be provided!
12. Summer Day Camp with 4H
Spaces are still open for the Clark County 4H Summer in the City Day Camp! At the 4-H summer camps, youth will experience an amazing and unique summer experience where they will play games, be physically active, enjoy delicious snacks, and learn valuable life skills in a fun and safe setting. Open to youth ages 9-12 $30 per week. Week One: June 20-23 Week Two: June 27-30 9 a.m. - 3p.m |
