The First Six: Community Lifesaver Class

Description

The first 6 minutes before first responders arrive, you are the first responder. The first 6 minutes of an emergency are crucial. With the FREE training, you and your children will be ready!

Henderson Fire Department is encouraging EVERY MEMBER of the community to attend THe First six Community Lifesaver Training. This is open to residents and nonresidents 12 years of age and up. (12-17 must be accompanied by an adult)  

Safe Class Environment

maskAttend a free First Six Community Lifesaver training class at the Henderson Fire Training Center that will provide instruction on CPR, AED, bleeding control, and the new HFD app. Classes will be limited to less than 50 people with seating arranged to maintain social distancing. The classroom and equipment will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected by staff prior to your use. All attendees will be screened prior to entering class. Face coverings will be required. Hand sanitizer and bathrooms will be available.

Hands-Only CPR

CPR dummyThe American Heart Association now recommends hands-only CPR using only chest compressions for adults experiencing cardiac arrest. Hands-only CPR does not require a certification to learn or perform. Anyone interested in obtaining CPR certification should consider becoming a LifeLift member.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

AED with dummyQuickly shocking the heart with an AED can save a person’s life during cardiac arrest. As public access AEDs become more available in the community, it is important to become familiar with how and when to use an AED.

Emergency Bleeding Control

tourniquetA person with significant bleeding can die within five minutes. It is vital to stop blood loss quickly before the arrival of emergency responders. Class includes training on emergency bleeding control and how to use a tourniquet.

Henderson Fire PulsePoint App

PulsePoint app logoThe PulsePoint app allows anyone to connect with the Henderson Fire Department and follow active emergency calls while receiving important news and information. The Community Lifesaver Class will cover use of the PulsePoint App which is available as a free download for Apple and Android.
