Henderson, NV – The annual time-honored tradition is back in a socially appropriate manner ... the Henderson Libraries Virtual Summer Reading Challenge! This fun-for-all ages event will begin June 1 so be sure to visit https://hendersonlibraries.com/summer-reading to register yourself and your family members so they can be part of the excitement.
This year’s challenge is open to three age groups: Read-to-Me (ages 0 - 3); Kids & Teens (ages 4 - 17); and Adults (ages 18+). A separate program exists for each age group, which you can read more about online. With a theme of Tails and Tales, the challenge will run from June 1 – July 31. On the summer reading website link, you’ll also find book suggestions for children based on their ages and reading abilities.
It’s easier than ever to track your reading time—just download the Beanstack app. A great feature through the app is that parents and caregivers can have their account as well as their family's accounts all under one convenient login. It’s easy to switch between family members to track participants’ reading and activities. Download the Beanstack app from the App Store or GooglePlay, and then look for "Henderson Libraries." You can also just go straight to Beanstack to pre-register from your device.
Of course, no summer reading program would be complete without a variety of raffle prizes. By logging reading minutes, tickets can be earned for Henderson Libraries’ raffle prizes. For those in the Kids & Teens group, one online raffle ticket will be earned for every five hours read. You’ll even have the opportunity to select which raffle prize you hope to win. For every five hours logged by an adult participant, one automatic entry to win a $25 gift card will be registered.
“Every year we hear from participants about how much they enjoy the Summer Reading Challenge,” says Henderson Libraries Executive Director Marcie Smedley. “We are happy to connect to the community through our programming, virtually, and can’t wait until we can enjoy programming together again in person.”
