Henderson Libraries: 1000 Books by Kindergarten

By Heather Carroll-Landon, Publisher of Macaroni Kid SW Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, & Henderson-Boulder City July 9, 2020

Give your child a head start when it comes to their schooling by participating in Henderson Libraries free reading program for preschoolers. The library’s free program - 1000 Books by Kindergarten - helps encourage families to read daily with their little ones, helping develop pre-literacy skills needed for a solid foundation for future academic success.

Children participating in this program will receive a personalized coloring page certificate and sticker for every 100 books read. Participants will also receive a tote bag after completing their first 100 books. Once a child reaches 1000 books read, they will receive their own book to keep.

Here are some FAQs about the Henderson Libraries pre-readers program:

Is 1000 books too many?

Not really. If you average three books a day with your child, you will have this completed in one year.

Can the same book be read over and over?

Of course. Repetition is important for growing minds and the library encourages parents to read some of the same books.

How do I sign up?

Once signed up for the program, parents can track progress online or by using the Beanstack Tracker App on their phone. If using the app, search for Henderson Libraries to register.
