Celebrate and Support Writers in our Community

March 28 is the 7 th Annual Local Author Showcase

By Press Release from Henderson Libraries March 4, 2020

Henderson, NV – On Saturday, March 28, the Paseo Verde Library (280 S. Green Valley Parkway) will host what has become an honored community event - the Local Author Showcase. This is your chance to meet over 60 authors from right here in the Vegas Valley, who write in a variety of genres. Whether you enjoy crime novels, poetry, memoirs, inspirational stories, or something else, there will be a topic of interest for everyone!

This year brings a new component as Henderson Libraries and surrounding residents participated in a Community Read. Part of the showcase will include a discussion with the author of the Community Read novel In the Midnight Room, Henderson resident and award-winning author Laura McBride. The book is set in Southern Nevada and many of the locations mentioned will bring a sense of nostalgia if you’ve been a resident for a while. If you haven’t yet picked up a copy to read, don’t miss your chance to be ready for the discussion. McBride will also have books available for purchase and signing.

Session 1: 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.

Exclusive appearance/book signing/discussion by Laura McBride:

12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Session 2: 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

“We’re so excited to present this showcase for the seventh year,” said Lisa Phelan, Paseo Verde Library Branch Manager. “Hosting the showcase and highlighting a local author is a great way to create local awareness and support our community of writers.” To learn more about this unique event, please visit
