By Press Release from Henderson Libraries January 30, 2020

Henderson, NV – A new year always brings new opportunities and this one is no different! Kicking off the first week of January 2020, Henderson Libraries will be sponsoring a Community Read (https://hendersonlibraries.com/communityread) with local author Laura McBride’s novel In the Midnight Room (‘Round Midnight hardcover title). Read this book on your own or get your book club involved.

Each library will have several copies for patrons to check out in addition to 10 Book Club in a Bag kits which include multiple copies of the book and are available for local book clubs to reserve. Additionally, Henderson Libraries will be offering copies of the title electronically through Overdrive/Libby and access to the audio version of 'Round Midnight is currently available through Hoopla. Henderson Libraries will also be providing copies of the book in a number of local coffee shops for locals to read and pass on.

“We’re thrilled to bring the community together through a good book,” says Henderson Libraries Executive Director Marcie Smedley. “Knowing that the book was written by a local author makes it even more special. I can’t wait for the community discussions that come about because of it!”

The Community Read program will culminate on Saturday, March 28 at the Paseo Verde Library, during the Local Author Showcase where community members will come together at noon to listen to a book discussion with Laura McBride and participate in a book signing.
