Five places to Visit in Henderson & Boulder City in January

By Heather Landon, Publisher SW Las Vegas, Henderson & Boulder City January 2, 2020

There are so many things to see and do here in Henderson and Boulder City, it is sometimes difficult for us to decide which to do first. We have an ongoing list and will be checking a few things off each month. This month, we have come up with five places you must visit in January with the family. Check out our January must-visit spots:

Clark County Museum

1830 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89002
(702) 455-7955

Hours: Daily 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Cost: Adults $2, Children and Seniors $1

Why we recommend it: We love spending time at this museum where we feel like we have stepped back in time. This museum has everything showcasing the history of Nevada, including displays, historic homes/buildings and a train.

Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve

350 E. Galleria Drive, Henderson, NV 89011
(702) 267-4180

Why we recommend it: Winter is the perfect time to visit the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve. This time of year, many birds have migrated to the area, including raptors, such as peregrine falcons, northern harriers and both Cooper’s and sharp shined hawks.  It may be a little chilly out, so bundle up.

Why we recommend it: The Lion Habitat Ranch gives kids the opportunity to see animals up close and learn more about each one that lives there. There are behind the scenes and animal feeding opportunities. This location will give your kids memories they will cherish forever.

Why we recommend it: Even if you only go to explore the trains, the Nevada Southern Railway Museum offers a look back in time. Kids will love seeing trains up close and being able to go in for a hands on experience from the past. If time allows, we highly recommend you take one of the train rides offered on the weekends.
