Goodness Gracious Ministries is busy helping improve the lives of the homeless here in Las Vegas and Henderson. They have recently moved to a new location and have been busy revamping and preparing it for its transformation into the new Lovewell Center. The Lovewell Center is available to help those needing assistance with finding a job, getting food and clothing, as well as help cleaning up. According to the website “The Lovewell Center was born in the heart of Cassie Hammett in Shreveport, Louisiana and has been assisting the homeless and people in poverty to a restored life successfully for over 5 years.” The Lovewell Center in Las Vegas is following that same blueprint used by Hammett in Shreveport. How does the Lovewell Center work? Here are more details: Those who are in need, register for a card and can earn points by completing certain activities at the center. Activities can include working on a resume, helping around the center and completing other tasks designed to help empower those who come to the ministry for assistance. Those points can be used to purchase a variety of resources, including snacks, clothing and washing clothes. The system used by The Lovewell Center helps give participants the opportunity to earn the resources they need, while helping equip them to leave the grips of poverty. Inside the center there are four areas designed to help need the needs of the poor - The Dresswell (an apparel store), The Eatwell (a food pantry), The Smellwell (offers a laundromat, showers and haircuts) and The Travel Well (a bicycle shop). Nothing is free at the Lovewell Center. Everyone is free to come in and start earning their points. According to the Lovewell Center’s website, “This model challenges the entitlement mentality and teaches each person that they have value and worth and can do whatever they set their mind to.” Join Goodness Gracious Ministries for their monthly quarter auction. This event helps raise money to run The Lovewell Center and is hosted the second Friday of every month. Click here for more details and to find out when the next event is being hosted. | ![]() |
